The Cyphotilapia frontosa cichlid is among the larger and more popular species of African cichlids, typically reaching 12 to 14 inches in length, with some individuals growing up to 16 inches. As they mature, their fins grow longer and more ornate, and their bluish hue becomes more pronounced. One of their most distinctive features is the prominent hump above their eyes, which becomes more noticeable with age, especially in males. Compared to many other cichlid species, Frontosa are relatively peaceful and generally coexist well with other fish.
